Moruya Veterinary Hospital was first established by Peter and Mary Atkinson in their rented house in Tuross.

In 1976 the clinic moved to the corner of Ford and Church Street and then to a purpose built building in Queen Street.  The building was extended over the next 30 years as demand for veterinary services in Moruya and the surrounding district outgrew the premises.  Eventually the decision was made to build a new Hospital adjacent to the old.

Construction of the new Moruya Veterinary Hospital was completed in September 2003.  It is a modern architecturally designed state of the art veterinary facility dedicated to serving the needs of the owners and animals of the Eurobodalla Shire in to the future.

Peter Atkinson, B.V.Sc

Peter dreamed of being a dairyfarmer (there were farms nearby and milk (unpasteurised) was delivered by van and dispensed daily into quart pots).  By the age of 7 or 8 this dream had changed to becoming a veterinarian and it never changed again.  Peter attended the University of Queensland where he met Mary and completed his veterinary degree.  They then both moved to Tuross to pursue their joint dream of one day opening their own veterinary hospital.

Mary Atkinson, B.V.Sc

Mary is a true country girl.  She was born in Nanango in the fertile cattle and cropping country of the South Burnett in Queensland.  She has a passion for animals, large and small, and their well being and comfort are paramount to her.  Mary has become an accomplished surgeon with great skills in abdominal and orthopaedic procedures.  Her surgical skills are complimented by a vast knowledge of clinical medicine.

Together the Atkinson’s are a formidable team with Mary's skills in small animal medicine and surgery complemented superbly by Peter's knowledge in the equine and bovine areas.
